bleeding at 6 months.
20th-Oct-2007 10:41 am [bleeding - after sex, sex, trimester - second]
I'm not sure if this is too much, so I'm gonna' cut it..

23w1d

The father and I had sex last night and he noticed that I'd started bleeding. Now, I know that spotting after sex is fairly normal..but I bled. It looked like I had my period. That's never happened to us before. As a matter of fact I haven't bled once throughout my pregnancy. I was bleeding so much that some of it ended up on his carpet a 'bit. I think it was because the position we used made it possible for him to go too deeply.

I called my doctor but he wasn't in so I talked to the on-call doctor and she told me that as long as the baby was still moving and I wasn't still bleeding red and heavy after an hour I didn't need to come in. It continued to become less and less and stopped completely in the next few hours. She also told us not to have sex for a week or so.

Has this ever happened to anyone before? Was there any complications because of it?

i was 17 weeks when on halloween last year, my hubby and i fooled around for not even ten minutes that morning. i went to work and 5:30p, i was rushing out of work to go to the ER, because i started gushing blood. no lie, it was like i was having a heavy, heavy period. they took me straight up to L&D, performed an exam and did an U/S. the baby was totally fine!! the bleeding didn't go away for about a week. i would suggest holding off on any sexual activity.

it's weird, some women are just bleeders, while being pregnant. it sucks, because it is scary, but i think you will be fine! :)

Thanks! :] Yah, I told him it was probably just because he hit the cervix..but, I was still freaked out because it's never happened to us before. I have a doctors appt. in a week anyway. It stopped bleeding last night but if it happens again I'm going to the ER.

1) Did he ejaculate inside of you? Blood mixed with semen can look like a lot of blood.

2) It was probably cervical vessel bleeding and nothing from your uterus.

3) Happened to me every time we had sex while pregnant.

4) See icon :)

Nahh, he didn't. It happened like not even 10 minutes into it.

That's what I told him. But, It's just a scary experience to see bleeding when you're so far along.

Ugh, well, that's terrible for you but relieving for me to hear. Haha.

Oh, congrats! And good. You've made me feel a lot better. :]

That did happen to me, at 27 weeks. I went to the hospital for it, where i found out i was having contractions every 2 mins, and almost went into preterm labor.

It could be that he just went too deep, that's what happend to me. But since then I have been on pelvic rest and complete bedrest, so i would say its something to get checked out. Have your doctor do an ultrasound to make sure everything is okay.

Really? I didn't experience any cramping and the baby was moving so I didn't even consider that I was going into labor. That must've been scary as hell.

Yah, unless I for some reason find blood again, I'm thinking maybe I'll hold off and just call my real doctor Monday so I can talk to him more about what happened and see how he feels.

Yea, i felt only about 2 or 3 contractions other than that i didnt feel any, and my baby had no problems moving at all, hes very active.

As long as you dont feel like anythings wrong than i think it's okay for you to just wait until monday.

Sometimes you can dilate without feeling contractions.

If you keep bleeding or start seeing mucous, I'd go in and get checked out just to be sure

that's scary.

I stopped bleeding completely last night. Just some dried blood early this morning and now it's normal. I'm going to still call le doctor monday though.

I bled at 20 weeks for no reason. I was out of town and my doc was furious when the hospital didn't give me an ultrsound to check me out. After sex bleeding is pretty common so I think my situation was a little different. Just do what your online doc said. I'm sure you're fine. :-)

Yah, that's scary. I'd have been one of those annoying pregnant ladies at the ER if that happened. Kudos to you on your patience.

thank you. :]

When I read the first line of your post, I thought it said "My father and I had sex last night." I was like :O but then I re-read it and I feel better about you. =)

Hahaha I read it the same way.

hahahahahaa

I just LOL'd at that.

I somehow feel better about me too now.

I bled like that every time I had sex (and sometimes just randomly) during my first pregnancy, and the doctor just said I had an "easily irritated cervix". It was never a problem or a danger to the baby, but if the bleeding continues I'd definitely go to your OB's.

"I was bleeding so much that some of it ended up on his carpet a 'bit"

I read this and for some reason I thought you were using carpet as slang for his pubic hair. And I was like "well, that's different. hmmm..." and then it occured to me that he might just have a carpet in his room. And I felt like a doofus. :)

Hahaha.

Well, I'm not that creative unfortunately. But, when I think of the word carpet and pubic hair I think of women.
