what to do for my birthday?
11th-Nov-2009 03:49 pm [fun stuff]
Me & Baby
My birthday is coming up! I'm turning 24 on Dec. 3, i'll be almost 7 mos pregnant, and i have NO idea what to do! I'm not like, rolling in cash or anything, which makes most ideas rather difficult to go with... my husband wanted to take me away for the weekend to get me out of the house and relax and all that, which is a fantastic idea, but i like to do things when i leave my house! not to mention leaving for the weekend is generally a bit of a pricey escapade. I dont want to subject myself to going out to a nice place for dinner and not be able to have a drink w/friends and stuff... i dunno, i'm just at a loss. Honestly though, I can always justify avoiding something, especially if it's for my birthday. I don't generally have great birthdays, so my expectations are ridiculously low. ahhh.... help, anyone? if you were pregnant on your birthday, what did you do?

Go out with girlfriends and treat yourself to a spa day with a massage then have a really nice dinner with your husband at your favorite place. My birthday is November 23rd and I plan on having a nice dinner with my husband and indulging myself with a glass of wine.

not a bad idea... happy early birthday btw! :)

i've never had a massage (other than when my chiro ordered it), but a nice dinner out sounds good.

I think I'd take the day off work and sleep.

haha aww, you probably need it! i dont work, so i'm bored all the time :P

i was definitely thinking about the pedicure idea... i tried painting my toes a few night ago and they look like a 2 year old did them, lol.
i'm getting my hair done on monday.. a friend of my sister's is doing a class and needed a model, so that'll be covered! thanks for the suggestions... happy early birthday!!!!

I turned twenty one this year, finally legal to drink! And guess what else? I was three and a half months pregant ;) LOL. The hubby showered me in gifts and took me to a nice dinner, then a movie. It was simple, but just a date night meant the world to me. Happy birthday!

aww!! well at least you had a good night... and thanks! :)

My birthday was this summer when I was about 3 months along. My parents invited me and my husband over, got my brothers involved and my dad grilled out. I ended up getting all maternity clothes, which wasn't exactly the highlight of my birthday, but it did help in the long run, lol. Dinner was awesome though, and my dad made me a non-alcohol version of the drink he made my stepmom.

aw that's fun! yeah, i'm having a hard time knowing full-well that i want the focus on me, not on the baby. i dont know how greedy that sounds, but i think i'm gonna have a LOT of baby stuff swirling around me, i just want a me day! :P

I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions, but I'll be watching the comments with interest. I'll be turning 30 next month, and that's a milestone I'd like to celebrate, but I'm not quite sure how. My birthday is December 24th, so not many places are open and people are busy with holiday plans; I'll also be almost 33 weeks so I have no idea what I'll feel up to doing!
12th-Nov-2009 12:31 am (UTC)
awwwww, i have friends and family with birthdays close to christmas, no fun, i know :( celebrate it early?? i'm really starting to like the spa-day idea, or going to a nice dinner with friends.

I turned 26 last month at months pregnant. My husband and I went out for fondu and I had a glass of wine on my birthday and went shopping (or just looked at crap for halloween). Then I had a birthday party/halloween shin dig with my closest friends at my house. I made food and treats for them and we had a grand ole time. I figured it'll probably be the last big party I'll be able to have for a while, so why not do it now? It was fun and I got to see all my friends.

oops I meant for it to say "at 5 months pregnant"

I was 5 months pregnant for my birthday last year and I went bowling with a bunch of friends. When it closed we all went to taco bell. I had a blast!
12th-Nov-2009 12:36 am (UTC)
omgi want to bowl but i heard it's too straining???

I'm turning 35 on December 1st! Happy Birthday!

I'm getting a netbook, because it'll be easier and more comfortable with my expanding belly and then later with a nursing infant than my current ginormous, over-heating, ancient laptop. You can get a good deal on them for around $200, sometimes a little less.
12th-Nov-2009 12:41 am (UTC)
aw happy birthday to you too!!! netbook sounds cool! I just got an ipod though, lol

I had the best birthday this year (I am 31). My husband took the day off work and we went out to breakfast. Then we went to Target and got a Wii and Wii Fit, then we went and got a birthday cake, then later we went out to dinner. It was awesome to spend the whole day with him, doing fun stuff.
12th-Nov-2009 03:30 am (UTC)
that sounds like so much fun! i might make him do that, lol. my bday is on a thursday, i dont know how easy it'll be for him to pull it off, not to mention he gets the thurs and fri off before my bday thanks to thanksgiving (redundant much?). We shall see! :P

I wish I had been pregnant on my birthday! Instead I turned 25 when I was one month PP.... I was fat, exhausted, not ready to leave my son, and too panicked to attempt to bring him anywhere. My husband, best friend and I ordered take-out Chinese food and rented movies. :)

If I had been pregnant, I would have loved to pamper myself with a spa-day, and eat at a favorite restaurant. As far as having a drink with friends... I was constantly ordering virgin daiquiris. ;)
12th-Nov-2009 03:31 am (UTC)
haha aw that's very true.. pre-birth vs. post-birth does seem a little easier :P funny, everything i do is always with my hubby and best friend, haha

I was 8 months pregnant at my birthday, I couldn't face going out or any of that stuff. It was my last day at work too (I was 36 weeks) and after a nice send off from my work mates I went home to relax, hubby picked up my favourite take out, I got comfy in bed, he gave me a shoulder rub as we watched movies and snuggled, and we had sex and just generally enjoyed a little intimacy with him fecthing me anything I wanted. At that stage it was heaven to be looked after that way.
12th-Nov-2009 04:13 am (UTC)
man, sounds like an awesome time. :) i'm glad you had a good day/night, better night :)
12th-Nov-2009 04:25 am (UTC)
i was about 2 months pregnant on my birthday, but it was before i found out so i guess it didn't really matter. i turned 21, but since i don't drink i just went swimming and got b-b-q for dinner.

a spa day sounds really nice imo
12th-Nov-2009 01:07 pm (UTC)

12th-Nov-2009 01:07 pm (UTC)

The spa day sounds really nice, also just spending the day with your man! My birthday's December 12th, I'll be 14 weeks. My situation's a little different because I moved to England in July, my husband's taking me to London for the weekend as a joint birthday/Christmas gift. We don't have a bathtub in our flat (we're currently looking for a house) so one of the things I'm most looking forward to is taking a long bath in the hotel! Lol
12th-Nov-2009 01:08 pm (UTC)
omg that sounds amazing!! and happy early birthday :) i'm gonna try and see if he can get the day off work :P haha
12th-Nov-2009 01:05 pm (UTC)
i turned 25 last month; i'm really really close with my family (like, see them multiple times a week close) so my parents made a big pot of potato soup and a poke cake and my boyfriend, two of my closest friends, and their two kids, & myself obvisouly haha went over and had dinner & cake with them ...for me it was perfect, but i'm kind of a total homebody...
12th-Nov-2009 01:07 pm (UTC)
that actually sounds really awesome. I'm pretty close with my family too :) Though more than likely it'll be here at my apt, or we'll be going out or something.

Oh, and thanks for making me want potato soup at 5am :P hahaha, that sounds soooooooo amazing right now...

I'm 24 on the 24th Dec...and years ago I thought that would be cool. Now I realise I'm going to be exhausted...but the good thing is I'm due Feb 1st so I'll be nearly 9 months pregnant, so it will all be over and I'll be excited to meet my little one :).

I'm not sure what I'll do, probably the dessert crawl...but then will I really be able to fit in all those desserts at nearly 9 months preggy? I better do it now, before it's too late (*laughing wickedly*).

love it! happy early bday by the way!!!
