TTC problems & Evening primrose oil

I'll try to make this as short as possible, with as much info as possible.

almost 6 years ago, my first son was born. It took us ~9 months of TTC him. I had an abortion at 17 (~1.5 years before meeting my now husband). I assumed there had been some imbalances due to that, and that's why it took us so long to conceive. (Reading now, I realize it's actually NOT a ~long time~ to conceive naturally)

My second son was born almost 2 years ago. It took us 1 cycle of trying with him, to get pregnant. I thought, cool, we're back on track. My period came back ~5/6 months PP. To be fair, I have herpes, which have flared up a LOT due to certain stresses in my life. We decided that we were going to TTC a few months after my second was born, and we have been trying ever since.

My cycles used to be right on the dot, and then they were really long, and REALLY painful. I've used ovulation tests the past 3 months, and we've done the deed as soon as I saw the happy face, and usually the day before, and after. I'm starting to get really frustrated, but since my husband has a contract job right now, his insurance is very expensive, and my kids only have health insurance right now, so I'd like to figure it out naturally, if possible. We are closing on a house soon, and after that settles, I'll be seeing a doctor if nothing changes.

I have read that evening primrose oil works really well for infertility and fertility problems. Has anyone had any similar experiences with any of this? I bought some EPO the other day and wanted to check if anyone had had any experiences with it! Or any other tips! Thanks in advance!
