Anyone ever throw a diaper shower?

ETA: I did make some edits to the original post to clarify -- strikethroughs to designate what we're ditching, underlines to add info. :) This isn't going to be a traditional shower, just a BBQ/get-together, but many friends and family up here have expressed wanting to get us something, so we figure we'd make it fun and low-key. Hopefully this clears up some confusion!

DH and I are throwing a shower (for ourselves, yes, I know...) St. Patrick's Day Pre-Baby Bash up in the area for local friends and family. We were aiming more for a get-together with snacks, beer, and maybe some gifts, certainly not required, instead of a full-on shower, so instead of doing the whole "we're registering at blah blah", we're doing a diaper party instead!

With cloth diapers. ;)

My question, before launching into our idea, is... have any of you ever had a diaper party before (with 'sposies or cloth)? How did you arrange it? How did it go? Did you end up getting a lot of diapers out of it?

So here's the thought: We checked out a few places online and finally settled on GoGreen Champ Cloth Diapers as our must-have diapers for Kit (once he grows out of the newborn ones). Cheap and effective! And double gussets!! We're going to send out invitations tomorrow, letting people know it's a co-ed St. Patrick's Day Pre-Baby Bash, and we're going to add an insert that says the "cover charge" or whatever is we'll be holding a raffle and the entry is a cloth diaper from GoGreen, using an ow.ly link to the diapers. No requirement for bringing a diaper, but if anyone wants to bring something, we hope this cuts down on things we don't need.

(We may add a note that, if they want to go local, they can go to Greenberries, a local baby consignment store, and pick out a one-size pocket diaper. Might add notes for retailers in other locations, too.)

We're adding a twist, too: Bring a diaper, get a raffle ticket! The more diapers you bring, the more tickets you get. A 6-pack of beer can count as a bonus ticket. ;) We're going to then raffle off either a $50 Target/VISA gift card or a gift basket of some sort at the end of the party. We figure that might get people to, if they're up for it, getting us more than one diaper to increase their chances.

Thoughts on this? Other than the diaper thing, we're not doing any other shower-related stuff -- no gift-opening, no games, nada. Just food, drinks (or preggo-"beers", lol), and a raffle. What do y'all think... would you come*? And would you bring a diaper?
